I'm 16 plus weeks today and am new to this community. I'm excited and scared at the same time about having my first child. I find out the sex on May 5th. We are very excited and cannot wait to see what's in store for us. For the past week or 2 this liittle boogers been kicking the life out of my ribs and enjoys doing cartwheels in my belly. I'm 23 and my husband is 27. We recently got married in June 2008 and have been together for 7 + years. I hope to get tips and tricks on pregnancy and would love to hear from moms to be as well that are in my area.

Congrats..... Try to enjoy your pregnancy as much as you can before you know it your due date will be here and then your little one will be all that your life is about.. But thats a good thing, don't worry and we all get a little bit scared.. have no expectations and you wont  be dissapointed.. I should have told myself that before I went into labor.. I wanted to got all natural but ended up having emergency C-Section.. But my little one is here and she is healthy and happy and that was all I can ask for...

Hi Elaine. Congratulations. I gave birth to my first daughter in January. The thing that i have learnt most about being a mum is never say "im not going to do that with my baby". I cant count the amount of times i said that before my bubs was here. I said i was only going to use cloth nappies and have only used them twice. I said i wouldn't use a dummy and found that at 3 weeks all i had to do was give it to her and she would go to sleep. Motherhood is the best thing i have done in my life. Go into it with an open mind and trust your instincts and enjoy because they grow up so fast. :)

Congrats!!! :) I just had my first baby last September.  It's an amazing experience and you'll be astonished once the little one arrives.  One thing I wish I knew before the baby came is that I would have MANY sleepless nights! ;) So get ready to be tired.  Do take those 6 weeks of recovery time, you'll need it.  And if you can have people help you for the first 2-3 weeks, take the HELP, because if you can stay in bed, get up only to pee, to feed the baby, and to eat, life will be so much easier.  Have others help with chores and just forget they need to be done.  I'd encourage you to check into Bradley classes, they really help prepare you and your husband for the pregnancy and delivery - it really helped my husband and he was awesome helping me through the delivery.  I did it with no drugs and I had a water birth, so I felt no pain in the water.  Only 8 hours of labor!!! :)
