I'm thinking of expressing breastmilk for my 2.5 month old bub. i have done it for my first one but can't remember wen i should express. I usually feed from both sides and he still feeds every 3 hours.I still want to breast feed, but would like to occasionally go out for a couple of hours

i would feed on one side and pump the other before you go out. thats what i do and im fine. but as soon as i get homei have to feed and/or pump. i usually feed off one side then pump the other. its a supply in demand process, so the more he eats and the more you pump the more youll produce.

i forgot to mention i read that generally you only express 1 to 4 ounces at a time.

you should be able to express just after a feed even if it is a little at a time.  You can store it in the fridge or even freeze it for later.. If your having trouble with expressing mabey try companion feeding using formula for those times when you need a break.  These days formula is just as good if not better than breast milk as it doesn't rely on what you are putting into your mouth, there are no concerns if you are on antibiotics or have gastro or something like that where the baby is at risk of contracting what you have or be affected by the nutrient level in your milk....   Its of course always up to the individual..
