I just wondered, seeing as my partner and i made the choice for him to have a vasecomy, You always hear of people saying yeah we didnt want any more either so we got a vasecomy and we have since had another 1 or 2 coz the op failed. Does anyone on here have any similar stories and if so what happens legally? I mean surely if they have sent documents saying that we are safe to have unprotected ssex and then you fall pregnant then they must be liable but you never hear of any big court cases ect.

Yeah see he had the vasectomy 9 or 10 months ago now, so we have the paper work to day its all clear, but yeah i mean the amount of people i have spoken to that have said 'oh yeah we had that done too, alot of good it did us, we've had kids since' is scaring me abit, but then i had to assume they were either lying or something had happened as they hadnt taken the company to court or anything so yeah.

Like everyone else said, its not 100% and there is a 2 week period right after that you should absolutely not have sex without protection because of the chance of pregnancy. There is suppose to be a follow up appointment 3 months after the procedure as well to check the sperm count levels. Many people think that after the 2 weeks is up they can just go to town, and don't wait to see if it was actually a success at the 3 month follow up.

The procedure is not 100%. What happens after the vasectomy is you wait a week or 2 then go back and they do a sperm count then give the all clear. I dont agree that they are liable because durring the consulation they tell you there have been some cases where a baby is still concieved. My husband had it done 3 1/2 years ago....no baby yet lol

There was a case here a few years back in New Zealand about a couple who fell pregnant after the partner having a vasectomy. I think there is a waiting period after him having a op before you can have sex again, I think this couple didn't wait as long and they ended up concieving a baby girl.

They took their doctor to court over it but they lost.
