My 3 month old who is formula fed is having the up to 8 180ml bottles a day and still seems hungry, he watches us when we eat and chews on his hands aswell. the farex box states for 7 months and older but i think he is ready to start solids now,

is it ok to give this to him? what other options do we have?

I'm not sure what Farex is, but I started my son on rice cereal at 3 months, just a tablespoon mixed with his formula and fed with a spoon when we had dinner.

My daughter started doing the exact same thing at 3mths too so i looked around every where and eventually found this - 'Cerelac' by Nestle that starts from 4mths of age....but i've only found it in a NOVO Chemist, although i never actually looked in any other chemists, but if its in one it should be in all.

good luck with it all

I'm not sure what Farex is either, I'm assuming it is like rice cereal? I started my bubby on that pretty early. Instead of rice cereal I would try a fruit or veggie puree. There is barely any nutrition in cereal and it often leads to constipation. An awesome first food is avocado! Just mash it up and add some water so it is watery like. Spoon feed it to him. Whatever you decide to feed him please do so by a spoon! The only thing that should be in a bottle is plain formula or breast milk! I say go ahead and start with some veggies, but you can call the pediatrician to see if it is ok. Both of my children started rice cereal before 3m and they are both healthy, but every baby is different.

Is farex the same as rice cereal? I would talk to your pediatrician first, and just ask. A lot of docs okay it. My daughter started cereal at 3 months. We didn't do rice cereal very long at all, maybe 2 weeks though. There's no nutritional value in it so we went to the baby oatmeal cereal. I asked my pediatrician first though. If he still seems hungry, he is probably ready. I don't know what farex is though, is it rice or oatmeal based?
