Hi,

I want to know what you think. My husband and I decided to get pregnant in about 2 months time. Financially we are doing good and we can afford to have a baby, I'm just wondering if it is the right time with the financial crisis and the outbreak of swine flu. Do you think it's wrong to try now? I have endometriosis and cant wait to long, nobody knows when this crisis is going to end or whats going to happen with the swine flu spreading. It's a big decision and we want to make the right one!

Quoting Lize-Mari:

Thank you, your story gave me hope, I've had 4 surgery's so far, the doctors gave me until February last year to get pregnant, we decided to wait because we have just moved to Australia and wanted to get settled first, I hope we didn't make a mistake by waiting to long. Did you have any problems or scary moments during your pregnancy and did it take you long to fall pregnant?

My dr. had been telling me to get pregnant for a couple years.  I got pregnant at 28 many years after being diagnosed with endo.  I had tried a few months before having my last surgery and then once I had my left ovary removed it only took a couple of months.  I was trying hard timing and everything.  I kept waiting as well and was worried about waiting too long, but I got my little miracle now.  It didn't cause problems with my pregnancy.  I loved not having the pain obviously.  When I was about 6 months pregnant though my baby was laying sideways and his head was right where my left ovary used to be and he was laying on scar tissue which was so painful I couldn't even move eventually after about a week I got him to move and the pain was gone immediately.  I also had an emergency c-section which had nothing to do with my endo, but I felt like I could handle it so much better since I had been through so many surgeries.

Go for it girl! Everyone's financial situation is different, keep your 8 months of income saved, and save a little more for the baby, you will be fine! I work in maternity and in a hospital. Germs are so so avoidable.just wash your hands often for 15-20 seconds, dont touch surfaces that everyone else touches like public bathroom faucets and exit doors. If nothing in the bathroom is automatic when you wash your hands dont turn off the faucet before getting a paper towel or tissue to dry your hands, use that same towel to turn off the faucet and open the exit door. At work wipe down your desk/ work area, especially phone with alchol, everyday! Wipe down your cellphone, and periodically lysol your knobs in your house, your remotes, computer pad, fridge handle. Purell your hands or wash your hands before you touch your eyes, nose or before you eat. It may sound like a lot but when you become hygenic, you WILL notice how filty people are. A lot of people spread germs because they don't cover their mouth when they cough or they do cover their mouth but dont clean their hands, then they touch money, money travels etc, Whew, you will be fine though.

I personally know someone who had swine flu and they are just fine now; it was like a bad cold! There will always be a reason to wait, which is why you just have to go for what you want. There's always something crazy going on, but that's no reason to stop living and enjoying life.

I do think it is smart to wait if you're not financially stable or lack health insurance, but it doesn't sound like that is the case. As other's have said, there are always going to be fears out there, but that doesn't mean we should never have children. If your personal health and finances are in order, that by all means, go for it!

Lize-Mari I would not worry about other things in the world if you guys are emotionally and financially ready then do it. I also have endometriosis and was so afraid I wasn't going to be able to have kids I have had 5 surgeries for it and I only have one ovary and one tube, but it still happened. It was great not to have that pain too during pregnancy and some women don't have problems for a while after as well unfortunately I wasn't so lucky my pain is back and my son is not 5 months yet. Also I felt like I could deal with the contractions, because honestly it felt like my period.

No its not wrong to try now of course not. Becoming a mother is supposed to be a gift. And even with swine flu becoming more prominet at the moment you just have to be careful with where you go and if you do go there make sure that if you do get any symptoms you go to the dr immediatley.. also if you're worried talk to ur local gp about these concerns and have all the tests needed before you start trying to conceive. With the financial crisis, there are alot of young moms on here who aren't working and are being supported by their partner and still doing fine and have everything they need. Im in that same position and im not to worried about money. Im due early august so in about 2 months and i was very overprepared during pregnancy by working out budgets etc etc and i had everything by the time i was 6 months cept the cot which is paid for and is still coming in. Good luck to you, whatever decision you decide im sure it'll work out for you! :-)

if we all put off having children because of illness and financial problems in the world we wud never have children. if you feel you are ready go for it. you dont need to be rich to be a good mum/dad you just need to be there when your baby needs you with lots of love
