well, at almost 3 months old, my son appears to have a bit of a cold, runny nose, sounds a little stuffed up. Any tips? Right now he eats about 3-4 ounces at a time every few hours, and cries almost constantly and sleeps for a half hour at a time, so I would really like some tips on how to handle this, because he is my first child and I don't know how to handle colds in babies

my baby freaked out over the bulb aspirator so i'd just hold her up and suck her mucous/boogers out with my mouth and spit into a paper towelwhen she had a little cold. she could care less when i did it that way. it sounds weird but its like a million times less invasive. id also run the shower really hot and feed her in the bathroom so the steam could help thin things up in there..

Put some vics medicine on your chest and wear a light t-shirt and hold him right against it. Then he gets the vapors of it without it being on him. It will help a little bit and use the saline spray and syringe. If things do get bad or you just have a bad feeling (trust it with your mommy instincs) call your doctor. Better safe than sorry!

The bulb syringe is a great suggestion; it's really important to keep their noses cleaned out, because they don't know how to blow their noses, and you don't want all that gunk to start dripping down their throat and into their lungs. To help him sleep, trying putting a rolled up blanket under his mattress to tilt it just a little bit so his head is slightly higher; it will help him breath a little easier.

If he is stopped up use a bulb syringe to suck out his nose & you can also use saline spay first & then suck it out. That might help the stuffiness some.
