hi mums can anyone tell me if they have ever had a baby who refuses to eat food, my daughter is 10 months and we had a check up today and she is getting dangourly under weight she is small and her head size is small also, i have tryed every food i can think of with lumps, pureed, warm and cold and have run out of ideas she has another check in a month to see if she has gained any weight. her health visitor has told me to starve her to see if that works so if you have any tips i would be grate full xx thanks. i would just like to say i have an 8 year old and a 5 year old son who eat well. she is still on baby milk and will not let any food past her lips, she is very happy, she sits up by herself and walks along the furniture x

yeah i have a 14 month old that doesnt eat and still has to be on 3 hour feeds. dont put rice cereal in! trust me on this i am all for rice cereal in the bottle for sleeping thru the night but do not use it on a baby that doesnt eat. it will make the child think her tummy can be filled up withut her having to do anything and it will make her less likely to attempt to eat the food. trust me i have a tube fed child and not due to medical issues due to her refusing to eat food, which she is quite capable of doing if she wanted to. tube feeding will have the same effect as rice cereal in the bottle and make baby think they can fill their tummies by being lazy. you could try the high calorie formula my daughter is on the pediasure, but be it may also if given too often cause her to not eat. make sure you are offering a range of different foods and textures and ALWAYS offer food before milk otherwise her tummy will fill up with the milk. my daughter is underweight to. if you need any advice pm me. x

hey there jennifer i have a 15month old daughter who is tiny aswell......she never did like any of the baby food either so we just feed her adult food.....when she was ten months old she was still eating the begginer baby food and our food...ie...for breakfast she would have scrambled eggs and then for lunch she would have a jar of the green beans and some fruit then for dinner she would eat meat and potatoes and veggies.. they told me last week that my daughter is about 10 lbs under weight... and like u i have a doc app in a month to check her weight again....she is only 17 1/2 lbs right now and 72cm long.......but she is very healthy!!!! My daughter is still on formula aswell due to doc's request cause she is so small they want to know that she is getting all the vitamins she needs even though she is not gaining the weight she is still getting all the nutrition... I would ask ur doc about keeping her on the formula until she is 2 it is a bit more expensive but at least u know that she is getting the nutrition she needs...just a thought....hope everything works out for u and ur little girl...

Give her real food. Mash potatoes, real fruit, cereal. My son wouldnt eat baby food but he would get down on real food.

also depending on her weight the starving may or may not work, it is safe to starve a baby for 48 hours, this is what the feeding team wanted to do with brianna, but the childrens hospital told us for any other baby it would be fine but not her because shes too little. its only safe to starve her if shes not severely underweight. but that said it may change her pattern and get her eating. thats the big dilema i have right now. whether to keep up the constant feeds or reduce feeds and refuse food during the day and give her food at night.

I agree try putting baby rice in with the milk, altough i never had that problem both of my children were off baby food and already eating adult food at ten months...try giving her adult food (soft stuff) that you think she might like that she can also hold it might be more interesting for her french fries or cook carrots in sticks..my kids at that age loved to munch on dry cheeiros, but becareful giving her harder things especially if she is not used to chewing it..try mashing plain baby cookies in her formula or milk also my kids love it...i hope that help good luck with your daughter

i would put her back on baby milk if she's not still on it and put baby rice in with the milk.
