hi there Gail. I started my newborn son on Enfamil for newborns and that has worked for him. And has not had any problems with it. Ask your child doctor for help but go with what your baby likes and stick to that.

Breastmilk is leaps and bounds better than formula. If you must use formula though, you may need to experiment to find the one that works best for your baby.
Some babies can tolerate all of the commercial formulas no problem, but others have trouble with gas or constipation with certain brands. All infant formulas have to meet the same safety and nutritional guidelines though, so it isn't that one is better than another, only that one may be a better match for your particular baby.
It's a matter of personal preference as well. Some moms don't like mixing the powder, but it's cheaper than liquid concentrate and ready-to-drink.
If your baby will drink store brand formula I wouldn't be afraid to use it. The big brands are as expensive as they are mostly because of their huge marketing budgets.
