During the day, before baths (and in the bath tub) I let my daughter paint...;on the walls in the tub, on herself....she had a blast, she learned her colors, plus shes already in the bath....it was washable, all I had to do was turn on the water.
We would also go through magazines, and point out things (one day would be cars) and the more we did it the more and more she would catch on. Outside, she loves feeding the ducks and the birds. Or walking around the park. She likes listening to the different noises of the "trucks" or "cars". Shes 2 now and shell look up when she hears a plane, shell look for a bike when she hears it, shes good with her colors, nows what a fire trk is, and still paints in the bath tub and its stll her favorite. (my apt is all carpet, its the only toddler safe place for her to paint LOL)

check out your local library for reading classes for her age! She can learn and interact with other kids her agae and you can talk to other moms about the other activities they do!

I agree with Shanna...My daughter is 17 months and she enjoys puzzles and blocks as well. She loves to stack the blocks and then knock them down. Also books are fun...pop-up-books....she has recently learned to scribble with crayons. Also, I made puppets out of socks and she thinks they are great. Put on a little show for something. lol Best of Luck!!

My son is only 16 months old but he loves to do puzzles or build with blocks. I know blocks seem like a 'boy toy' but it's fun and it challenges them to build new things, learn colors. Also puzzles are just good old fashion fun.
