for the 1st birthday i did something very simple with only family...i think the only expensive thing was the cake and that really wasn't expensive maybe $23. There wasn't a theme because the cake had her picture on it (got from Walmart) so we used regular balloons a happy b-day sign and regular happy b-day hats. didn't go all out because it's not like she would have remembered it and like you said we had to stay in budget

my third daughters 1st birthday party is next Sat morning and I have to plan it on my own with my hubby away in army,so I wanted it kept simple because there are many people who are invited.(it was very hard to get it down to thirty people.including kids)A one year old wont remember all the extravagant decorations or presents or even food!So go with basic party food and drink,a homemade cake thats made by mum and good close friends and family...who care for your child.Keep it short,as even at one bubs get tired out with a lot of commotion going on.I am making mine for just after her morning nap,and as there are lots of older kids coming,I am making sure the snack food is low on the sugar side so my friends and family arnt taking wired kids home.Hope your childs party is good:)

I did a simple cake and invited the people that were closest to my child. At one, there aren't very many kids and the party is more for the grown ups to celebrate the child.

Girl don't worry about going overboard! She won't remember it anyway! I'd do something pretty and simple. Especially if your on a budget. I'd just get her her own cake so she can go to town! Have fun and enjoy.

We did my sons at the park. I know its unoriginal but she is only 1. This way she can run and play, you can cook out, and no clean up. Just throw your trash and thats it. When she has her own little cake everywhere then its not all over your house. Thats all I can really think of for a one year old. Im not sure where you live but a lot of places have traveling petting zoo and pony rides too if that is something she will like.
