My son is almost 1 year old and does not like chunks in his food. I'm looking for food ideas to feed him that doesn't come in a jar and is healthy for him too!

Quoting Laura:

i'm nervous too my daughter is 10 months but because i have the opposite problem and she doesn't mind lumps i'm getting grief from the health visitors about including her in our meals. i'm not sure as i feel our food contains too much bad stuff and i'm more a fruit and salad girl then a veggie girl so i got a freebie book from and mother and baby mag and it's a book by annabel karmel and she specialises in baby and toddler foods very varied in flavours but teaches you how to cook really healthy food this one had a meal planner in it which i feel really confident about and plan to use it next week when we've done the weekly food shop. i plan to stop using the jars aswell to give me the push i need hope this has helped.

Our food does not contain bad stuff if we cook it right and buy organic non-processed foods. It's all about how you cook it and the foods you buy to cook with. I've always cooked for our son and the only change that I made was the amount of salts and marinades that I add to our food.

He eats chicken from our plates for dinner but won't eat anything else that is chunky. Not even jar food that has chunks in it!

If he picks up food and eats it try steamed veggies he can pick them up but they are soft enough so they mush easy. he'll get used to the chunkier stuff some times it takes a little time my daughter didn't like it at first either, but soon didn't care. Any soft foods diced would come next with shredded meat. You could try them now but may have a hard time getting him to eat. Like our Ped. said he won't starve and will eat it if he's hungry enough.

Our son since starting on solids has alwaya eaten what we eat minus the honey, dairy and citrus. If you cook healthy foods then no worries there. Include him in your meals. Our son loves eating what we eat. I'm making chicken and veggie soup tonight. It's one of his favorites!
