My husband and I aren't trying for another at the moment. We seemed to have a lot of intercourse last weekend, which would be my fertile time. I am on birth control, but i started a light pink bleeding. Only when I wipe. I am due to start my period on thursday June 4th. I took a test today, but it was negative. I think I might have tested to early. Has anyone had this before. I usually have few days of dark spotting but not this early. Has anyone gotten pregnant while on the pill?

It is very easy for error when on the pill considering it only works at 99% accuracy if you take it at the exact same time everyday and you are not taking any ther medications that interact with it. Spotting does not mean yu are pregnant nessicarily, just wait to see if you miss your period, then take a test.

Yes you can. My friend got pregnant while on the pill as well. She only missed one pill but took it the next day when she remembered. She was on birth control for 13 years and missed that one pill and got pregnant. So yes it can happen. Just depends on you and your body. Alot of birth control pills are so low dose now that they sometimes wont protect a person that is overweight either. So if you are slightly over weight Id suggest talking to your DR about the risks of going onto a low dose contraceptive. Also, generic versions of birth control pills do have a higher risk of failure rate. And here is the study on that.....

"With low-dose oral contraceptives (ones that have only 20 micrograms of ethinyl estradiol), the effectiveness of generic drugs is not adequately tested by the FDA. Brand name drugs have to be within 10% effectiveness, and so a brand name low-dose pill would still prevent pregnancy. However, with a generic low-dose pill, the pill could theoretically have a low as 14.4 micrograms of ethinyl estradiol and still be considered suitable by FDA guidelines. A dosage this low will not prevent contraception. This means that if you are choosing a low-dose contraceptive, as many women are, you are better to choose a brand name alternative"

Hopes this helps you!! Just educate yourself and always talk to your DR about any concerns you will have. And if you are trying to get pregnant GOODLUCK! :)

I got pregnant while on the pill....that's how my little boy came to be! You only have a few more days until the 4th. I would actually retake another test at that time. And I'd definatly call your doctor if you really do think you might be pregnant. You'll have to stop taking the birth control pronto at that time.
