I had my twin girls in April and got my IUD put in 8 weeks later..I bled for a long time and then had like 2 periods but now I haven't had one in 2 months and I've gained 5 pounds, been getting nauseous on and off, and had headaches...is this normal?

I just got an IUD last week, my girl is 11 weeks. My doc said that some of the side effects are having a very light even no period at all, and don't be nervous if this happens. She also gave me a brochure to read and I think I remember that headaches were normal, I'm not sure about nausea though. Could it be that you're so nervous about not having your period so you are "tricking" your body into thinking you are pregnant? The mind is very powerful. My advice: go to the mirena (or whatever iud you got) website, take a home pregnancy test, take a few deep breaths and relax!

Its a possibility that its just a reaction to the hormones, but it wouldn't hurt to take a pregnancy test.

The side affects are different for all of us. For one of my friends it was so bad that they had to remove it after the fourth or fifth month. Most of the time these side affects will go away, but not always. And yes, it is possible to get pregnant with an IUD. A friend of mine did. I would recommend making an appointment with your doctor. The IUD can also upset your yeast balance and you could get infections as well.
