Has anyone had a progesterine shot before? And did it work?

Most (if not all) IVF moms have progerstrone support as part of their protocol. Some take it by injection and others, like me, take it as a vaginal pessery. It helps build and maintain the uterine lining and placenta...

I have never had the shot but i was at risk to tmiscarry and they gave progesterone pills that you had to insert. Needless to say, I now have a very healthy little boy born in February at almost 9 lbs. Made my morning sickess a little worse but it was well worth it.

I had twins at 25 weeks last june. For my recent pregnancy I got progesterone shots once a week starting at 22 weeks and delivered at 31 weeks due to pre-eclampsia and metabolic acidosis. I probably would have gone longer if I hadn't gotten so sick.

Well, I had them to prevent preterm labor. Is that what you are asking about? I had twins 3 yrs ago at 27wks. I just had a baby in Novemer and I had the shots for 12 weeks and I did not go into labor until 39 weeks. If that is what you are gonna get the shots for, then yes I would recommend them. Most insurance does not cover them so it can be pretty pricey. My Dr taught my husband how to give them so that we wouldn't have to pay the Dr to give them once a week.
