Has anyone tried the Implanon form of birth control? And was it not noticable after it was implanted

I've never had it put in and from everything I'm reading (not just here but other sites as well) I would never even consider it. First it would probably kill me as I have an immune disorder and my body doesn't handle open wounds very well. Second...it just sounds awful.

I would consider Mirena or if you're looking for permanent birth control the Essure procedure. I also hear the Nuva Ring thingy is good.

I had implanon a few years ago and it was fine for probably the first 12 months and then I used to get periods all over the place and it got to the stage it was like I was bleeding all the time. I had mine removed then and would never have another one, but have heard of others having no problems so I guess everyone is different.

I had the Implanon put in 6 wks after I had my daughter. I beld for at least 3 months straight..typical side effect my dr said. It also gave me a daily headache. So i had it removed 4 months after it was inserted. I would never recommend Implanon to anyone!!!!

i had it put in just over a month ago. i know 2 other people that also have it. one said it caused her to gain a lot of weight and one said that she didn't get any weight gain with it- in fact after having her baby she lost 40 pounds! that was after she had the implanon put in. of course she was trying to b/c she had gained so much from her pregnancy but she said she did not put on any extra weight. for me- so far, so good... but like i said, i haven't had it that long. you can feel it through your skin. kind of weirded me out at first :) and there is a tiny little dot where they inserted it but only i know it's there. no one else would be able to see it unless i pointed it out to them. as far as how it works, i think is great! i am one of those that would never remember the pill so i love it and it lasts for 3 years which is around the age i want my son to be when i start trying for another. hope this helps! good luck!!

I had it put in 7 weeks after I had my daughter, this is the 2nd one I've had since I started using contraception. I find it better than taking the Pill because you don't have to remember anything (which is great because I don't have the best memory) and don't have to worry about repeat prescriptions. I wouldn't say it was noticeable really, except for the few days after having it fitted. The only visible clue is a tiny scar - no bigger than a match head - which can only really be seen if you know where to look.

my doc wants to put me on it but i have refused as i know at least 10 women who have had it and gained an enormous amount of weight from it.
My doc says it doesnt make you, but it DOES my friend gained 15kgs from it.
Ive been looking into the merena, but the idea of having it put in while i have my period is a lil off putting.

i have the implant, due to be removed next year, you can feel it when it's in, you can move it up and down ( not for the squeamish) but it works, i only just started having periods again as they stopped when i had it done, will be getting it replaced for deffo
