my daughter is coming on 10 weeks in a couple of days, and from the day she was born she's been sneezing. she's fine in the day, but at night she sounds really chesty, the doctor said it could be the mucus from when she was born as i had her by planned c section. she has boggies, so i think its a cold. the doctor gave me some nose drops but i don't like using them as they make her sound even worse. is there anything simple that i can use on her?

She may have allergies. My son is just about 10 months old and he's always sneezed right much. We took him to an allergist and found out he has food allergies and he has an allergy to dust; they put him on Allegra and Singulair. Allegra is strictly for allergies, but Singulair is for allergies and asthma; as he's had bronchiolitis when he was 3 months old and they had to do a breathing treatment on him and slight wheezing before. I would seriously look into maybe seeing an allergist, doctors always tell you the same things. Hope this helps and hope you find out what the problem is! Good luck!

Also, I know the drops may make her sound worse, but that could be a product of the drops loosening the mucus so that she can get rid of it....just a Mucinex does, it makes you sound worse and cough more, but that is because you are actually expelling the mucus. Just a thought...

When my daughter had a cold before she was 12 weeks, I used vaseline to help clear her nose. In young babies vaseline works in the same way as vicks does for us. Just put it in the same places you would put vicks on yourself, under nose, on chest and back. Even try tilting her got at the head end so she can breath easier.

Hope this helps, Nicki
