you need to get her socialised as much as possible as it will only get worse as they get older - i am a teacher and i have known some children whose first day away from mum is the first day they start school!!! these children (and parents) have an awful time because of it.

the good thing about it is that she is still so young that she won't remember any of it. You might try leaving her in the room w/ someone she knows (Dad, Grandma, Auntie) while you go to the other room for a few minutes at a time. When you come back it will help her to realize that she's ok w/ these people, and you WILL be back. After you've done this a few times, expand it to you leaving the house for a little while (run to the grocery store, starbucks, the mall) for about 30 min. at a time. She will eventually get used to going to other people and letting you leave for short periods of time.

I agree with Ceri. Don't keep her all to yourself just to keep her from crying. Crying won't kill her and she need to see that everything will be ok. She is still young and will grow out of it. Both of my kids went through this phase and are now very social kids. My daughter has a very healthy fear of strangers, but my son will go to or talk to just about anyone.

I know what you are going through and i really feel 4 u!

my little girl was the same till a few months ago.

i dont really know what made the change but all i can suggest is to geve her lots of friendly contact with others (friends and family) whilst u r with her annd get her used to other ppl. she will prob grow out of it when she sees that other ppl can meet her needs too.

hope all goes well ceri x
