How do I get my 5 year old to stop peeing the bed? He doesn't do it every night but has more accidents than not. We have tried cutting his fluids back to nothing after 7pm but it is not working. My friend has the same problem with her 6 year old.

The advise I am giving you is not to replace the advise of a doctor by any means, i do not know the full history of your child but.. if you open to folk remedies or natural home remedies I have a few for bedwetting! One thing you can try is a teaspoon of LOCAL honey before bed I have heard of this working well for others, honey attracts water, holding it in the body without straining the kidneys. If that doesnt work I would suggest seeing an allergist via referral from your pedi, sometimes when your body is allergic to certain elements it can lead to bedwetting, a lot of children which are highly allergic to things like dust, pollens and fungus in the air have symptoms of bedwetting, being sound sensitive and become irritable

I could be that he has a small bladder or some other medical reason for it. You can have his ped. check him for medical reasons why this is happening. If he has a small bladder I think they have medication for it but I'm not sure if it's safe for kids. I think they end up having to grow into it.

It is hard to say because bed wetting could be signs of so many things. Your child could be wetting the bed because he can't feel it when he has to go or it could be because he/she is cold. Some children wet the bed because something is going on in their life (psychological reasons). Some do it to get attention. There are so many reasons.

take him to the toilet right before bed time, and then wake him up in the middle of the night, walk him to the toilet and take him again. Soon he will understand that when he has to go, he has to go to the toilet. :D hope that helps.
