my son will be 8 next week and I am really struggling with him, i had him at 19 and his dad and I had a rocky relationship and split up when he was 4, we have both moved on and are in long term relationships and have both since had another child each, my son lives with me and I work hard to provide for both the kids, I probably dont spend as much time with my son as I would like because I work full time and my daughter is still under one so she does take up alot of my time, but when I ask him if he wants to do something he says no we wants to play xbox or on the pc.... for the last two years his attitude towards me has totally changed, he is cheeky and doesnt listen and goes out of his way to do the total opposite of what I say, Its not how I have bought him up and I feel like all his anger is aimed at me because when he is with his dad (which is not often but not because of me and I have asked him to try and call once or twice a week he doesnt) he is never like that with his dad.... it upsets me because I am the one who provides for him, pays for his clubs and sports, his clothes his birthday parties and christmas, I go without so they dont have to and none of that seems to matter, his dad can do not wrong.... when he comes back from his dad he is so cheeky to me for days....and I feel like all I do is shout and I dont want to anymore but his behavior needs to be sorted out.....he is getting in trouble at school but nothing works....have tried the naughty step, taking toys, xbox pc away....tried grounding him, even shouting doesnt work anymore.....please help I know this is bad because I love him very much I just dont like him very much right now....

My neice was the exact same way after her mom and dad split up. He started doing a lot better after her mom got her into councling. She still has her moments.....more after she's been with her dad. But give that a try.....councling I mean.
