Everyone has given good advice on the bed thing, which I had to read too. My son is almost two and I have been considering moving him to a bed. He is just starting to say words, and just starting to be interested in potty training. Just give the words and potty training time. If your doctor isn't worried, I wouldn't be.

You dont need one until a) he can climb out of his crib or B) his armpits are at the same level as the top side rail. Once it is that high there is a risk of them falling over the top because they are top heavy.

Just my personal opinion, but I would skip the toddler bed altogether and go for a twin or full or whatever size regular bed you choose. My nieces and nephews have all tried toddler beds but its kind of like a big toy for them and they refused to nap in it. As soon as they switched it out for a regular bed they were napping and sleeping through the night like they used to in their cribs. I would get side rails though to keep them safe!

I think if he is not crawling out of his crib then you are fine some kids dont get a toddler bed till the 3-31/2.

I bought the toddler bed when my son was able to climb out of his crib (he was 2), as I felt it was safer for him...unfortunatly, when he turned 2 1/2, he no longer wanted a toddler bed, as he figured out it was the same size as his crib (which his younger brother is using) and wanted a big boy we ended up buying him a twin sized bed about 6 months after we bought the toddler bed...

Get the bed and start using it for naps until he is used to it then let him choose weather he wants to sleep in the big boy bed or the crib every night until he favors the bed over the crib. If you have room than you should just get a real bed instead of a tiny toddler bed because it's nice to be able to lay down and cuddle with them before bedtime and you can't do that with a toddler size bed.
