don't let them bully you into it if you don't want it. its your body, your child and if you say no, NO IS NO BOTTOM LINE.

i personally dont care much for flu shots. you get sick, you get sick, no big deal. even though its a bit different when youre pregnant. for one, your immune system is down. and for two, theres not much you can take for it on account of being pregnant. ive never had problems with severe sicknesses so i dont bother with the flu shot. worst thing i ever got was pharingitis. i dont like the idea of pumping unnecessary things into your body let alone into your body when you have a kiddo growing there. one day, they say something is safe and the next they realize that what they considered safe actually is harmful and by then its too late. my daughter got her flu shots last years and this year. but thats just to protect her because shes a kid. although i probably should refrain so that she can build of immunities naturally instead of getting shots. id say to just do what youre comfortable with doing. you have the right to refuse a treatment. its your body.

I am having my third child and with my other two I never got the flu shot (because I didn't get around to it.) This time I got the vaccine in October at the advice of my OB. The professionals recommend the flu vaccine to pregnant women but I can't help being a little leary. After having my vaccine, I read a post about a woman who recieved the H1N1 vaccine in her first trimester and ended up having a baby with severe brain malformations. I realize it is not the same situation. I got my flu shot in my first trimester as my OB didn't say to wait but I think I wished I waited until my second tri for peace of mind. As your daughter is way past her first trimester, I wouldn't worry but it is an individual decision. If she really doesn't want it during pregnancy she should just wait another month until her baby is born. And in January the flu season is almost over so maybe she should just forgo it altogther.
