First I would say have another child not just because you want a girl, but because you want another child. It is natural to want a boy and a girl, but not always is that what you get and you have to be ok with whatever gender the child is.

Second there is no right or wrong age spacing on siblings. There are pros and cons with any age gapping. It is all what you make of it. I have a 14 yr old an 11 yr old and a 1 yr old and I LOVE IT!!!! I have really enjoyed watching my 1 yr old grow. My husband and I are able to attend the older two activities without feeling like we have to choose who will not have us there during a certain activity as you would if you had 3 close in age. We don't stop doing what we do with the addition of the 1 yr old.....we have just learned how to do it all along with the 1 yr old. The sibling bond is different with the younger one, but it is just AS SPECIAL. They do all act like siblings and will bug on each other as well as love and protect each other. There are going to be differences in their relationships, but just because it is different does not mean it is not special. That sibling bond is still there.

There are adjustments you will have to make. Going from one child to two children is an adjustment. Going back to caring for a newborn will be an adjustment. But there are lots of rewards as well.
