My son is 6 months old and has started eating his solid (baby jar) foods. I am ready to wean...but he will not take the formula, have any of you had this problem and how did you successfully make the transition for you little one? I don't want to use the "if they get hungry enough" method, but if there is an extra ingredient or something I can add to the formula I would be willing to do that...within reason of course :) Pumping is out, it takes me 1 hour to pump one ounce of BM, I don't have the best pump and at this point I don't want to buy another one. Thanks for your help!!! :)

I found that when I pumped while nursing, I got milk much more easily. I admire you for nursing even though you have issues requiring medication. It won't be easy to wean regardless of how you do it. Just stay with it and try not to get frustrated. It will take some time but try to make it as good of an experience as possible. If you feel frustrated so will the baby and it will feel like a negative thing and take much longer. Hang in there!

Same here Carrie. He gets upset and has a hard time calming down unless I nurse him, I don't know what to do, I feel so guilty....but I need to wean him, I have been off my medication for over 15 months.. He takes juice from a bottle and will experiment from a sippy cup but no go on a real feeding :(

It should get easier as his solid food intake increases. I would try to use a natural type nipple and maybe introduce juice in addition to formula. It also sounds like he'll be using a sippy cup before long. Maybe that would interest him in something other than the breast. however, I know my daughter would do well until she became very tired and I had a hard time calming her without nursing. Just take baby steps and it will happen. Good luck!
