My 9 month old loves to be around me all the time, and especially bedtime. as soon as i put him in to the crib or go to lay him down, he wakes up and starts to scream, and wont stop until i pick him up and go to bed with him in my bed... this has been going on for 5 months and im afraid i wont be able to get him out of this habit.

does anyone have any advice....

Thank you for your advice, i actually got him to sleep one night by doing the old hug and roll routine and it worked... but the next night i was not so successful... i'm gonna have to let him cry himself to sleep...

I had the hardest time breaking my daughter to the crib.....It took about a week and a half of sleepless nights for me. She would freak out and cry and scream. I was crying because I felt so guilty.....I sat outside of her bedroom door where she couldn't see me so that I could hear everything. I kept going in every 15 minutes or so just to assure her that she was okay.....she would finally cry herself to sleep...... you just have to make sure you are consistent with it.....

That's what my daughter use to do. I had her crib in my room, so to get some sleep, I would just pick her up and bring her to bed. I talked to my doctor about it, and he said, as long as she is safe, just let her cry. I moved onto the couch in the living room, and just let her cry, and she has no problem in her crib anymore, and she sleeps through the night. I wouldn't let your baby cry for more than 15 min. without checking on him, but it everything seems to be fine, just know that his crying won't last forever, and try to get some sleep yourself!
