how can I get my 9 month old to stay sitting in the bath tub?

Three times was my rule and an arbitrary number. I picked it at random, I thought he should have two warnings, and I thought more than two warnings was too much. It worked for me - maybe try a number that works for you.

Wash her hair quickly - first thing. The rest of her can be done with a washcloth outside of the tub if necessary. It is only a phase and I am sure that you have more stength, will power, and tenacity than your daughter. worse case wash her hair in the sink - she won't like it, but consequences are consequences.

my 2 year old does model sitting down, and we are firm with her but she is eating on her own and at daycare everyday and needs to be washed usually she has stood up three times already before we get a chance to wash her and she has lots of hair and needs it washed so we cant just take her out after however many times....we usually take her out after and let her stand on the other side while her sister finishes

stand up three times and your out! that is the rule. took my son about a week to figure it out. (he occasionally tested the boundaries after that first week.) Each time he stood up I would sternly say , "No standing in the bathtub. you do it X more times and your done with bath!" he sometimes will motion like he is going ot stand and I remind him, and his butt quickly plops right back down. (this was actually one of the first responses to my commands that he did! milestone!) does this mean sometimes he took a bath that was less than 5 minutes long? yes. but that only happened a couple of times. At almost two years, he only stands up in the bathtub when it is time to get out.

Consistancy, consequences, your child will learn. :) Plus you have an older child who can help with this - your older child should not be standing, and instead helping by modeling the good behavior! don't forget to do plenty of positive praising, "what a good job sitting you are doing! look at how long a bath you had because you sat the entire time!"

As a side note: he also will take showers with me sometimes - same bathtub/shower combo. He knows it is okay to stand during shower time. but at bathtime he must sit.

my daughter is 11months and she baths with her brother whos 2. i think it scared her when he was splashing around and she was sat down so i just got my son to play nicely with her and not splash and move about so much and she got better at sitting down. i told him to 'show her how the water works' and he holds the jug and she trys to catch the water! try looking on ebay for a tub ring, you might get 1 cheap!

see we have tried the toy thing and the bubble thing she has a 2.5 year old sister that she baths with and she just has no interest in sitting, but we are afraid she will hurt herself if she slips and falls(we got a new bath tub 2 months ago and its still slippery) even though we have bath mat. we have tried to get a tub ring that she sits in but they are really expensive

they make little seats that spin and suction cup to the tub, otherwise you might just have to let her play seating or standing, as long as you're right there, ya know? They also make covers for the faucet if you're concerned about her falling and hitting her head on that. If she insists on standing, you can wash her standing up - which is actually easier in my opinion, and if there are toys and bubbles in the tup she might be more inclined to sit and play. I would def. look into getting some fun looking adhesives or a mat to make it less slippery, though. goodluck!!

I picked all the toys that were ok to go in the water which was about 20 toys and I stick them in there with her. I sit and play toys in the water with her. It keeps her entertained enough.

my daughter did this to me a few months ago. all i did was put some bubble bath in and splashed around so she could see them all come up! then i sat her down and moved her hand around so she could splash and make bubbles. she still stands up, but not as much!
