How can I get my baby to sleep in her crib?

Ever since my daughter was born she was sleeping for 5 hour increments at night and would sleep in until 9am. Some nights she would even sleep from 10pm-7am and then wake for a feeding and go back to sleep. Here is the problem.. I was letting her sleep in a swing chair. It wasn't in the swing, but the chair came off of the swing and reclined back to get a pretty nice upward sleep position. She is 6 months now and getting too big for the sleep chair. I have managed to transition her to her crib ok for bedtime, but she now will wake up about every 2 or 3 hours to eat and then will go back to sleep. I can't get her to go in her crib during the day for naps. She just simply won't sleep there. I try nursing her to sleep and then putting her in and she wakes right up. I tried putting her down drowsy and she cries non stop. Here is the real kicker.. we went on vacation to my in laws house and did not bring the swing with us. She took long good naps in a crib there and slept well at night. Im so confused. What do you think I can do to help her sleep well here? Do you think it is the mattress or the crib? Do you think it is an association thing where she was able to sleep well somewhere else because it was not home? Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

I have never been able to get my son to stay asleep in his crib. So..... Where I can get him to lie down - that is where he sleeps. In his crib, on my bed, on the couch or even a blanket on the floor. I have tried to make sure that he never gets used to sleeping in one place. That way he should be able to just pass out anytime and anywhere. You won't always be near her crib and the last thing you need is an over tired child who won't sleep because she's not in her crib. Just endure and maybe try letting her sleep where she chooses. ?

Hope you find a happy resolution :)

I say just keep at it! She will eventually sleep longer in her crib. I use to sing my daughter to sleep in my arms in the room and when she fell asleep i would put her down and she would wake up sometimes but not all times and even still my daughter being 5 she still wakes up sometimes
