Is there any technique to having a boy instead of a girl? Other than separating the sperm. Did you guys do anything different than when you had a girl? Like eating differently or whatnot?

to have a boy the sperm travels quicker but dies sooner so if you have sex on day 14 from the first day of your period you are more liikely to have a boy, if you have sex between day 11-13 you are more likely to have a girl as the sperm swims slower but lives longer so abstaining afterwards helps conceive a girl. good luck x

No, Amanda, my reading skills are not lacking. You said(direct quote), "And it is all God, science is trying to play God which isn't right." which doesn't make sense at all. All science is not playing God- do you use light bulbs? Is that a substitute for the sun? Then you backpedaled and said, "I was expressing my beliefs that science is playing God because only God should be the one to determine the sex of your child not some scientist "spitting sprem." I never said anything like you couldn't go try different methods that supposively give you sons. So next time read what someone writes the next time." even though in your first post you never mentioned "spitting sperm"

It is also worth noting that the original poster specifically wanted noninvasive methods "other than separating she sperm." So, yes, please be more clear about what you mean or don't become upset when people don't understand you because you make no sense.

OK, this conversation has apparently made a different turn thanks to Amanda. Nobody asked for your belief and I never said i wanted to use the "spinning sperm" technique. Also maybe you should learn your definition of spitting sperm. Its spinning sperm. And who said i want 3 more kids, i already have two and am trying for another. That equals 3 kids in all. Also "spinning sperm" isn't playing God, more like cloning people is playing God. And by the way, we all get what spitting sperm is. If you don't, maybe you should google it. So your sentence makes no sense because you don't know if its true or not, like some of the stuff you say anyways.

Wow apparently I am getting chewed out over expressing my beliefs! I never downed anything you said but here you are getting defensive for my opinion. Well, I hope you will be happy with what God gives you whether its a million more girls or just one son. Next time don't be so rude. I was expressing my beliefs that science is playing God because only God should be the one to determine the sex of your child not some scientist "spitting sprem." I never said anything like you couldn't go try different methods that supposively give you sons. So next time read what someone writes the next time.

So if you all haven't noticed Rikki is happy as long as the baby is healthy. What she would like is to be able to carry her husbands son. There is nothing wrong with wanting something. I think the whole GOD thing needs to stop being thrown around due to the fact that God allows children to be brought into this world who are abused and have druggies for parents. Now if it really is all about God making the decision then why does he allow people like this to have children. Yes sometimes it changes them and other times it just makes it worse. Why doesn't God allow the people that can't have and would do anything to have a child not allow it? Yes I do agree that you need to ask God but don't forget that there still are shooting stars. Go for it Rikki get that boy and tell me if GOD is the one who said here is your boy.

Quoting Amanda:

Well it's all up to God. what ever happened to being happy with what you get as long as the baby is healthy???

I think (hope) most people would be happy either way but it is still natural to have a slight preference. Since these methods are so noninvasive what's the harm in trying one way or the other as long as the ultimate goal is a healthy baby?

my midwife told me that female sperm takes longer to travel to the fallopian tubes, so if you want a boy have intercourse closer to when you are ovulating because the male sperm travels faster! Not sure if it is true, because I have two boys and she didn't share this with me until after I was pregnant for the last one! Good Luck!

Well first off I am in the same boat as you Rikki and you know this on a personal level. I have done just about everything these kind people have posted. And now I am thankfully expecting my third child. Just like you which ever one I get I am happy with but I would love to have my Husbands son. Unlike some people that choose to open there mouths in a negative way at least we can say that our children come from one father and one father only. Not saying that I have anything against having two baby Daddy's but, if your going to be rude and try to justify how people choose to try to conceive a certain sex than by all means you should have the finger pointed at you. I don't care who you are it's not playing GOD until you surgically or internally try to do something to try to change the sex of the baby or fetus. So by all means Rikki have at it and good luck I hope you get a boy.

I just kept telling myself I was going to have a boy...sounds silly but I just kept telling everyone I was having a boy and sure enough I had a boy.

its not playing God at all Rikki! if you want a boy you go for it. i want a baby boy to next, dont let others judge you for what you do or stand in your way! what you do to conceive your next baby is entirely your choice. of course we'd all still be happy if we got kids of the same sex but doesnt hurt to do what you can with regards to timing etc. good luck

No, i already have two girls, and i said that it would be great if i have another one but i want a boy this time. Of course i would be happy with all the babies that i have. Also if you can time your pregnancy and the likeliest date to conceive a boy , how is that playing God? Is taking birth control playing God too in your eyes?

I have 4 boys and want a girl but I was just saying what if you had 3 more girls? would you not be happy that you have lovely girls?? And it is all God, science is trying to play God which isn't right.

Well actually, i dont think its all up to God. Maybe it is but im not sure. But i want a boy because i already have 2 girls. I mean if i do have a girl that would be great, i just want to have a boy this time. Plus if there are ways to have a boy and i want one, why not ask the others mothers for advise. Is there something wrong with that?

Like the others say: Boy sperm live fast and die young. Try right after ovulation for a boy. Before ovulation for a girl.

We read the book, "How to Choose the Sex of your Baby" by Shettles and Rorvik and were successful conceiving a boy and then a girl. It is a lot of charting (like 3-6 months before trying), but if you have a very predictable cycle it's pretty easy. It worked for us, TWICE! :)

the billings method worked out erfect for me to choose to have a boy for my secound child. its hard though because there is only one day in the entire cycle you can have intercourse so trying for a boy may make it harder to concieve at all. In this method the theory is during the week of ovulation ph levels kill male sperm on most days. there has been a lot of hype to get a girl eat acid foods ad drinks to raise ph but i doubt thats effective but you cold try avoiding acidic foods.

I second the Taking Charge of Your Fertility book. I used that method as pregnancy prevention for 3 years, and as a result, when we did get pregnant, I knew it was going to be a boy as we had intercourse immediately after ovulation.

I will say, however, that the FAM method does take a bit of attention and effort on your part. You'll need to be on top of taking your temperature, checking your cervical mucus, etc. if you really want to be exact with your timing. It's not a guarantee, but we're hoping to use it again to try for a girl next time.

DH and I are hoping to have a boy this next time around. I use the Fertility Awareness Method to avoid pregnancy and conceive so I know when I ovulate. Based on the Shettles Method, if you have sex the day of ovulation, you're more likely to have a boy. If you have sex before ovulation, you're more likely to have a girl. This is because boy sperm are faster so they'd beat girl sperm in a "foot race" but girl sperm are heartier so they outlast boy sperm if they have to wait around for the egg to drop (in a nutshell). Google the Shettles Method for more info. I know the short-version that I read about in Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler- great book!
