How can I stop my 2 year old daughter from biting her fingernails?

My daughter has started biting her fingernails...in some instances right down to the "quick".

I know that there are some things you can put on nails that make them taste gross (fingernail polish for example) but I am a bit hesitant to use them on someone so young.

Does anyone have any ideas for a safe, foul-tasting treatment? I would like to fix the issue ASAP because I know I was personally really bad at biting my nails until I was about 10-12.

my daughter eats off the fingernail polish. That was the 1st and only idea I had.

i think all moms' know it's a comfort thing. If you really want her/him to stop, my daughter's doctor also told me to use Vaseline if the nail bite didn't work.
Hope this helps

My 2yo has also started biting her nails. I asked the doc about it and he said it was a comfort thing. I couldn't help but to think "duh"! So if you figure it out, let me know :) good luck

I put no nail bite on my daughter's nails. I was hesitant about putting stuff on her fingers too, i talked to her doctor about it and he said it was perfectly safe. Between that and constantly telling her no that's nasty or just no she finally stopped. Hope this helps

On a side note, it is something she does when she is pre-occupied, for example, watching TV, etc. so it's not a "calming because she's upset/scared" issue :)
