Sounds like he uses it as a pacifier. My 13 month old drinks out of his sippy cup while falling asleep and I don't mind b/c I know that he is staying hydrated in his hot weather that we are having. I always worry about my son becoming dehydrated and not drinking enough fluids. Unfortunetly I do not have any advice for you but I can suggest that if your son wakes up in the middle of the night, give him water and rock him back to sleep. Develop a cut-off time, where after a certain time at night, no more food or drink b/c it's close to bedtime (ie: 8pm, or 9pm). Good luck!

THere is no reallu easy way to get through this. You dont want to substitute anything else in its place because you will only have to repeat this process. If you hold out anothernight maybe two nights he will sleep and you will too. It only took two nights for my daughter. I will pray for you because i know its hard to listen to them cry.
