Stop using the breast milk gradually. I had a pump, and would just pump enough every few hours to remove the discomfort. Maybe a minute on each breast. Then forget it for hours, until it was uncomfortable, and pump a little more.

Your breasts get the message that the milk supply is no longer useful and slowly shut down production. In less than a week, without any pain, you will notice they no longer get firm no matter how long its been.

Cold cabbage leaves also help to relieve the pain with the engorgement.

Breasts will produce milk if there is the demand. Try not to express any while trying to stop as it will just delay it. I found if I bound a towel around me at night it helped with the leaking.

Run out water on them. The hotness from the water will get them to flow out and eventually dry up.
