I let my son run around the house naked. I would just keep reminding him that if he needed to pee or poop to use the potty. When he did go I made a big deal out of it singing, clapping, dancing etc. I would also give him a sticker (in his very own notebook lol )and a piece of his favorite candy. Once he got good at going to the potty I would just put shorts on him, then go to pull ups and shorts etc. I hope this helps but really he will go when he is ready.. Good luck!!

Make it Fun, Fun, fun! Reward charts, stamps when he sits 2stamps if he wees 3 if he poos, books, singing etc all can be used to make it fun and take the stress away! The more stress the harder it will be so relax!

Boys are hard to potty train, they will do it when they are ready. if you want him to do it though, put him in pants. when he messes himself leave it a minute before changing it, have the potty at hand and he will realise messing himself isnt nice. my friend did this and didnt take long.

i was going to give a big speal but it seems that pamela knocked it on the head. boys do it on their own. make a big deal on each step and always be positive even if it sometimes feels like you are going one step forward and 2 back... my 4 year old just outright refused to wear nappies anymore and in 1 week he was finally using the toilet and on the way to dry nites. just listen to your little man, he'll tell you.

i don't have any experience in this area yet, my son is only 5 months old, but my mom said the same thing that pamela said. when he's ready he'll do it.

my son will be 3 in aug. sometimes if he doesn't have a pull up on, he'll let me know he has to potty and we sit there for 5 mins. he's only peed in the toilet 3x, so then i think he's ready and i tell him we're going to go in the potty today, no diapers and he freaks out and cries and begs for a diaper. so i know he's not ready and we'll try again some other time. he has the whole concept down since everytime i've gone to the bathroom since he was one, he follows me in there. so he knows what to do, he just doesn't want to. but we're getting there, everytime he poops in his pull up he lets me know and takes it off and goes to get some wipes. so at least he's catching on to what it feels like to have to go.

I am in the same boat with you Mandy. My son will be 4 in two months and he only goes to the potty when you force him to go. It is really hard.

Try putting cherios in the potty and tell him to make the cherios sink ( urinating on them of course lol) It worked with my son, but every boy is different :) just be patient...Pam's right, sometimes you cant make them, just try and do different things, different rewards, constanly ask him if he has to go :) hope that helps!

That is a really good question.... I have a three year old boy myself who is just now starting to be potty trained. He has had no desire to get treats for going on the big boy toilet or anything...so I asked my dr. about it and he said to let him tell you when he is ready...LOW AND BEHOLD he is finally ready three months later. Sometimes you just can't make them do it. Sorry.
