My son's father and I divorced when he was just an infant. His father tells me the other day that he is moving away at the end of summer because he can't find happiness. As it is he only see's his son one day a week. Conner is trying so many new things right now, and I don't understand how his father doesn't want any part of it. How do i tell my son that his father is leaving and he won't be back for awhile??

Personally I think its up to the dad. I know my stepsons mom has a habit of telling stepson things that realy arent her business and DH was intending on talking to the child.

how old is your son now it kinda depends on how old he is and how much he can understand but i dont think i would really fib to him tell him the truth(ish) lol just kinda say daddy has to go away and he loves you and (if the father said he will call) then tell him daddy will call when he can and you will get to see him again some day or something along those lines

you could fib to your little one n say that daddy has to go away to another city to work but he will still call you (whch i hope he would) and as he gets older explain to him just cuz mum n dad dont live together it dont mean he is not loved by the both of you. or you could tell the truth but im not really sure what that is as (just my opinion) if i was not my lil girls main carer id want to be there at weekends or pick her up from school, go bowling or iceskating just something that was for the two of us, i can only speculate your ex cant handle not being a biger role in the lil ones life so why be a part at all? its mad logic but the way people think sometimes. try asking him what kind of happiness is it he seeks? it may give you a better answer to give to your child,. gosh thats such a hard one to try help with but i hope you get an answer that will help or work for you, :) xx
