My 7 month old is crawling like crazy and I have baby proofed everything else in the house, but the baseboard heaters have me stumped!!! Anyone have any ideas?

I agree with what Stephanie has said! Not much else to add, other then you could try and place your hand on them to see how warm they are getting. If they're older then they could get warmer.

baseboard heaters aren't dangerous unless they are sticking their fingers inside on the pipe. at that point a stern no and pick him or her up and place them in the center of the room and be consist. a handful of times doing this (or more) they should get the point we have an old house as well with basboard. our little girl would touch the coverings but never stuck her hands on the inside pipe. The other thing you will to look forward to is your baby trying to stand on the baseboards. Ours does she thinks its a step of some sort
