My son is 20 months old and I can not get him to eat any fruits or vegetables besides the occasional peas or pineapples. His doctor said to just keep trying but its not working. I'm afraid his development will be slower without the proper diet even though his doctor said its not cause for concern. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

The toddler days! It doesn't get a whole lot easier with food! I always gave my daughter a few options. She never wanted her veggies or fruits either. I started offering things with it. For example; She hated spinach, she loves spinach with butter and vinegar. She hates celery, Add peanut butter, or cream cheese, whichever they prefer. I peeled and cut apples into slices- add peanut butter, or even honey. When it comes to the green veggies it gets tougher! Broccoli is good with melted cheese, brussel spouts are good with butter and vinegar, If he doesn't like any of that try v8 juice as a nutritional supplement. Also vitamins gives then the extra stuff they don't get from being picky. Sometimes i would tell my daughter if she would take two bites of her veggies she could have a dessert after dinner. At least if they are willing to try it, then they will develop new taste buds like every 7 yrs. So they'll be phases with food. Good luck

Thats a good idea.. So what do you put veggies in things like pasta sauce and mashed potatoes? She really doesn't notice?

Thankfully my daughter isn't too bad, she loves most fruits and some vegetables. However I still hide vegetables in everything I cook. I grate, blend and mash vegetables and add them to most things she eats. She doesn't even notice.

Thank you! You both gave me great ideas. I have tried carrots with ranch, broccoli with cheese and a couple other things but before I go to a new cook book I'm definitely going to try adding vinegar and butter to a few things. Celery with cream cheese is an amazing idea he loves cream cheese I can't believe I never thought of it!
