ok I have a neice who is 18 it her first pregnacy and she is being induced 4 weeks early due to the baby nutrients is all going to the baby brain and not the baby body her dr recommend she be induced early so she has been admitted on july 15 and was induced that evening and it is now the 17th and she has not dialted at all the doctor deos not seem to be concerned due to stress showing on baby or mom. so my question is how long can you go for labor after being induced and to me this seems way out of wack all together i think her dr is nut myself but im an old school mom we didnt have the pain option you all have epidural was known as the medicine that could paralize you or your baby so it was not even thought of using

i was induced about 4pm on a thursday; although i was in the hospital a few hours before that they kept me because i was there for my weekly stress test for the baby; they said they were concerened on the babys heartbeat; at 4.45 i got my epidural; which didnt even work after awhile; at 10.45pm i told my doctor i couldnt take it anymore ; my daughter wouldnt "drop"; so at 10.55pm i was being prepared for a c-section; due to my doctors orders. so; it sure seemed to me like it was longer than 7 hours; by god it felt like forever; but i had a healthy girl:) & got to leave the hospital on saturday afternoon. i know every woman is different; but i felt like i had a really hard time; my husband said i did great;but at the time i wasnt feeling like i was; and i consider myself a pretty strong woman- so; best of luck to your niece. you just never know; all these type of things are definatly in gods hands. im sure your niece will be fine; long as she has a strong support system; that to me is "VitaL"..:)

It can be days. I was in labor for 23 hours with my first because i was induced. Then needed an emergency c-section. I didn't even know i was in labor with my second because contractions are far less painful when they are natural. I only knew for about 20mins I was in labor.

it can take up to 3 days! Especially depending on how they induce. (break her water, pitocin, or that vaginal insert)

I was induced with my son at 36 weeks. They induced me for 6 days with the medicine to cause contractions and a gel that makes your cervix dialate. After day 6 I went from a 1 to a 2. We were not ready yet but my baby could have been in trouble. After day 5 of pain and no food I requested a c section. I tried for one more day with no pain medicine the hole time. No luck so my son was born with a c section. The doctor said we could have done induction for 2 more weeks if need be. I am sorry to your niece. I can remember how scary and painful it was. Good luck and keep the faith.

Everyone goes at their own pace. Watch a baby story on tlc or any of those baby birthing shows on tlc. With my daughter I went into labor a month early and I was only dialated to a 2 and my dr decided to break my water after 10 hrs in labor. About 2 or three hours later i got put on pitocin after not dialating anymore from previously. After 5 hrs on that I was ready to push. But like everyone else has said if they broke her water already she should have that kid out NOW.

I was induced 2 times, one for being 40 + weeks and second time high blood pressure.
First induction took 3 days. I went into hospitial Monday night and delivered on Wednesday lunch time. I think they did 3 lots of Gel and Stretch and sweeps. When the my cervix was open enough the DR broke my waters, I went straight into labour and had my boy in 4 hours.

Second time I was already 3cm along but cervix was still long but wasnt wasnt having contractions, i had one lot of Gel at 7:30am and 2 stretch & sweeps, I went into labour at 4:45pm and she was devliered at 6:08pm. About 6pm i said to the midwifes time to go the birthing unit, however by the time the got the wheel chair, i was like time to push and had her in the Marterity ward.

i was induced with my daughter and i was in labor for 36 hours. and because of the pitocen my contractions were one on top of the other, so i didnt have that minute or two of downtime in between to catch a breath... it was horrible.

How was she induced? If her membranes were ruptured, it is time to get a c-section. Otherwise it can cause infection or tearing if she gives birth naturally. If just using oxytocin (or something else) it actually hardly works, most end in a c-section anyway.
If the doctor was so worried about the development of the baby, I'm surprised he hasn't opted for a c-section.

I was induced with both of my babies my first took just a few hours but my daughter it was 2 days before I actually had her from the time they started the meds. My sister was induced with her baby and finally on day 3 they gave her a c section. guess it varies, hope this helps

I know they want the baby delivered within 24 hrs of your water breaking bc of infection, but I don't think they're is a time from when they start medication to induce. They are prob monitoring your niece and her baby to make sure they are doing well. Everyone reacts differently to the medication, so even after they give it to her it's hard to say.

I'm basing this in the birthing class I took at the hospital where I delivered imy daughter. My water broke on its own, initiating my 4 hr labor. I never needed any medicine to move it along, but I was full term.

Everyone reacts differently to an induction. I was induced at 38 weeks due to my baby not growing as well as he had been. I was induced with medication at 11am and he was born at 2.13pm - only a 3 hour labour! Although it was a quick labour, I did end up with 3rd degree tearing, probably due to not having time to dilate slowly. You just have to trust the doctors and they will be monitoring her and the baby, so try not to worry!
