You're right your son should not be watching cartoons the entire day. There are plenty of ways to entertain a child. Read to him, do arts and crafts with him, color with him, go for walks, take him to the park, tell stories (our son loves when we make up stories), just sit and talk...I could go on and on! Our son is a year old and does not watch tv at this point so those are some of the things that we enjoy doign together. Good luck!

also, you can try to play interacting games with your toddler. go outside to a playground or have your child interact with other kids if that helps. play hide and seek, play with his animals (pretend that the stuffed toys are alive), etc.

in my opinion, i've got a lot of advice on this subject and it was pretty much the same thing. the less tv your child watches, the more time he will spend with you interacting and being close like the way it should be. i also hear that too much tv can affect you in some ways but i honestly don't know how. if i find out, i will let you know but hope this advice does some good to you and your kid! :)

It also helps that I have a lil 7 month old boy who she dearly loves to play wit. Find something interrestin that he liks and do it wit him it always works well most the time. Good luck!!

My sons dr said no more than an hour a day. I take my son to the park or walking. He loves playing ball or playing with our dog. He loves coloring and being read to & even trying to read to us. During the warmer weather I play with him in his blow up pool & he has so much fun. I don't even bother with the TV because there's really nothing worth watching & the hours fly by when we're having fun. Plus it helps us bond. & my son is only 19 mths so there's not alot we can do, but I always try to open his mind & let him explore his surroundings.

My daughter is 2 and she loves to watch the 101 Dalmations but I only let her watch for short periods. The rest of the time we are playing tea party or do crafts she loves music so I usually let her listen to kids somgs all day! Just go by your sons likes and dislikes and it will get easier to keep him entertain instead of the TV! And the tv is not Kid friendly at all sit down and watch what some cartoons are saying and other shows and you will have your cable disconnected! (we did)

My 3 year old loves to play games like Hi-Ho Cherry Oh!, Chutes and Ladders, and Memory games. Instead of watching Blues Clues (if he's seen it) give him a notebook and crayons and see if he can "find clues". (I buy washable crayons in case of accidents.) Music can also be a great time passer. Whether you're listening to actual music, or creating your own - he might love banging on pots and pans with some big spoons. Mine even gets out lids and bangs them together as cymbals...which is noisy, but he loves it lol. Good luck!
