Hello, I'm just curious about how many words most 14 month old can say . My daughter says mama, dada, pap pap, nice, ball, woah( when she falls) "at" for cat , book , more , her favorite word is no , and she will snuggle a stuffed animal and say aww ( melts my heart everytime!). She has also repeated at least 10 other words but doesn't say them on a consistent basis . Is she on track ? She also understands a lot more than she can verbalize and follows easy requests such as " Emma can I have your socks " and she will pick her socks up and hand them to me . I was just curious if she sounds like she's on track for her age? I really never been around other babies and the Internet stats are set at a pretty low bar, any answers would put a worried mom at ease !

Thanks staci , it seems in the last few days she has just began to repeat everything ! She's learning a few new words a day. Babies are amazing little creatures !

Hello, I have a 14 month old boy and he says about the same amount of words as your little one, it sounds like she is a smart little girl! Don't stress out!

By 14m they only need to be able to say 4 words. By 18m they have to say 25-30 words and by 2 they have to say 150 words. If your child isn't meeting these milestones look into a speech evaluation for the child. I have one child in speech therapy and its doing great for him it's giving him that little push to get to where he needs to be

Thank you !! I was interested in doing baby sign language but I talked to her dr and she said that could actually delay their speech development bc they will sign instead of speaking . I just read to her a lot and I think being able to stay at home with her helped ! I appreciate your response , always nice to know our kids are developing properly !
