BTW if i lived in another country it MIGHT have been different. But in Australia the temp is higher and we are outside everyday that i DONT work,lol..and her daycare has a park so she plays outhere. plus she is in swimming lessons so those nights i HAVE to give her a bath no matter wat time she goes to bed...But i think each parent is different...and have different things that work for them.

When my daughter was a baby, we bathed her one to two times a week, and at two we still stick to two times a week. She had a lot of excema problems and was never a very dirty child.

Since day one been bathing my baby twice a day not that she is dirty, its just that where i come from thats our routine, you can not just wake up in the morning without taking a bath and you just can't go to bed without one, my baby loves it, she is so calm anf relaxed, she is 7 wks old..

My Son is almost 18 months old and we bath him every Other day one - he doesnt really get dirty enough to have a bath everyday and it really does dry out his skin and most of the time he just plays and doesnt relize that it is bed after so right now we are not worried about setting a bath/bed time routine just yet. Also if we want to get him really relaxed for bedtime you can go for a walk.drive, read, bath or watch a show/movie and thats all we do..

We give ours a bath everyday because he has eczema. So we use a special soap and we add a moisturizer to the bath water. We also do a bath everyday because have a great schedule going and he enjoys it!

every couple of days unless really needed. I have 3 kids and my husband works out of town most the time and it is too much to get them all bathed every night. As long as you wash the hands face and diaper area everyday or as needed they are fine.

Jaime,
Sorry I didn't respond earlier. My daughter's exzema has gotten better, but it seems to flare up mostly seasonally. During the summer it pretty much disappears, but during the winter it comes back and we pay a lot more attention to lotion and stuff like that. However, I think this runs in our family. It should fade some with age, but he may always have sensitive skin issues.

When my children were infants, I bathed every other day. Every day was too much, the hard water was torture on their poor skin. I am not able to bathe every day either and it seems they got my skin. You should bathe as often as you feel necessary and as long as their skin can handle it, you should be okay.

I bathe my 3 month old baby girl everyday I wash her hair everyday and around her neck very well..They get milk in the creases on their neck and it smells awful.I used to work at a daycare and some of the babies I kept had a very foul smelling neck.I always said when I had a baby I would never let her stink like that!!

My daughter gets a bath 2-3 times a week . Unless she has potty leaks or throw up on any given day, then obviously we will bathe her then too. It can dry out babies skin to bathe them everyday, especially their scalp. Out Doctor said until she gets older there is no need to bathe her everyday and its Winter now and its too cold!

I bathe my infant 1-3 times a week. If you bathe them too often it will rid them of germs they actually need to strengthen their immune systems.

hmm..wen my daughter was born it was winter and so i gave her a bath everyother night. But i usually give her a bath everynight since she was like 6 weeks old. its a great routine for US!...she ahs dinner at 6, bath at 6:30 then a cup of milk and then i read her a book in bed and she is asleep by 7pm. best part is she doesnt wake up till 8:30 in the morning (yay)...
BUT i also got told it is OK to wash a child once every 3 days. However my daughter used to sweat a lot at night in summer and i put sunscreen on her during the day, not to mention the stuff in the air that sticks to her ( and i live in Australia which is one of the countries with the LOWEST air pollution) so i give her a bath every night( unless we get home to late)...And her skin NEVER dried out, but i put NATURAL moisturises on her so there were no chemical products in t.

I agree that babies need to be bathed every day. Our little boy throws his arms at me when I put cream on. He enjoys the touch and it makes him relax.

my 20 month old only gets a bath maybe 3 times a week, first of all it does dry out their skin which is bad. after every single meal she gets her face and hands wiped really good. now if she has made a huge mess or something then yeah she does get an extra bath. but babies do not need to be bathed or "watered" down every night. there are other routines too, just depends on what you as the parent establish, every baby and their skin is different.

[deleted account]

It's winter and very dry where I live so he only gets a bath once or twice a week. If it makes a good night time routine for other people that's great. We may make it part of our ritual when he gets older. He's 9 months now and I just try to do 'spot cleanings' & moisturize like crazy.

My three year old gets a bathh everyday. My 9month old is at least every other day, now that it is winter. I am having a big problem with dry skin and the bath seems to make it worse. On days she doesn't get a bath, I wash her face and hads extra well before bed time.

oh gosh every night for my oldest and every morning for my youngest. wouldnt do it any other way.my oldest has eczema but after his bath i put on lotion that was recommended by the dr and his eczema is fine. couldnt not bathe them everyday. my youngest has been bathed everyday since the day he came home from the hospital and has never once had dry skin. it depends on the child with dry skin. my sister also bathes my nephew everyday who is 3 wks younger than my 6 month old and he doesnt have dry skin either. none of my nephews did either.

I bathe my daughter every night. But I only use soap every other day so she doesn't get too dried out or get a yeast infection from sitting in soap too much. I mostly have to bathe her because of all her hair and she rubs food into it so... But I think if she didn't, every other day would be plenty.

We bath our 5 month old son every night as part of the bedtime routine. He gets baby lotion put on every night as well, so that his skin doesn't dry out and he knows that after a bath he gets his nighttime bottle and then goes straight to bed and sleeps through - and he's slept through since he was a couple of weeks old

My son is 8 months old, and gets a bath and his hair shampooed every two days. Because of the cold weather and dry air lately, sometimes every three days. He has developed a rash on his back because of the dryness, so I am treating it with Aquaphor, but I try to do what I can to make sure his skin doesn't get too dry. Plus, it's not like he is sweating or anything, I make sure his face is washed daily and even wash his hands with baby soap if I think they are dirty on days that he doesn't get a bath.

[deleted account]

I bathe my son every night. I've heard that it can dry out their skin, but this is a routine that was started in the NICU-bathe and then lotion every night before sleep-so I've kept it going.

Mandy:

Has your daughters excema problems gotten better with age? My son has the same problems in which they gave him a prescription cream. I am just curious if this is a life long deal?? Where does she tend to break out the most?

Thanks:

My 6 yr old takes a bath every night before bed so he has more time to eat and get dressed before school in the mornings. But my 19month old and 3 month old take a bath every 3 or 4 days unless they get dirty that day or if we went out with alot of contact with others because of the germs. But my 2 younger ones stay home with me and rarely go anywhere, not only that reason though but all 3 of my children have horrible eczema and we have found this method of bath time the best for their skin. And for the parents who are thinking u have to get ur child in routine before they are school age is actually wrong. Before school age it really dont make of a difference yet bout bath time routine.

little ones don't really need to be bathed more than 2 or 3 times a week. the only reason I ever bathed my boys more than that was if they got really dirty. their skin is too delicate to slather with soap every day, alot of these mom's are right in saying it dries out their skin. I asked my pediatrician how often she washed her kids and she said the same thing I just did. babies and toddlers don't really get that dirty, apart from the constantly sticky hands! LOL

We bathed our son about 2-3 times per week. Sometimes more, when needed (oh how I don't miss the poop-up-the-back surprises when he was an infant! lol). I had read that babies don't need to be bathed every day and that it can dry out their skin. We keep up that routine now, and our son is 2.5. He loves baths, especially bubble baths. :)

I started out with giving my son a bath every other day....then he ended up with really dry skin no matter how much lotion or baby oil i put on him and it then turned into eczema. His doc told me to cut his baths down to 1-2 times a week unless he's spit up a lot or pottied through his diaper. But since I cut his baths down his skin has cleared up so much. He's only 5 months old he doesn't get very dirty, and i wipe him down every morning and every nite with a wet cloth before lotioning him. Babies at that age don't need baths everyday....especially if you live up north with all the cold, which dries them out more

I bathed my girl once a week unless she got really yukky, but I gave her sponge washes in between. I had a really hard labour and almost died after birth, so it was hard to get the energy to do it. Luckily I had a good husband that helped out alot.
