I do not smoke, and i do not allow anyone to do so in front of him.
I suspect his dad and his friends all do when he has him at the weekend.

definatly look at the reasons for the cough - & reduce enviromental toxins like cigg smoke (even being held by someone who smoked outside), air freshners, fly sprays, chemical laundry powders, cleaners, paints etc. then think about your kids immune system and give it a boost by givining him lots of frseh fruit and vege and avoid crappy food like sugar, white flour, store bought snacks, artifical preservatives additives etc. Also cut out high allergie foods like dairy, soy and wheat asw these put a lot of stress on the body. (dairy is especially bad if theres flem or a snotty nose going on) and lastly give him some natural remedies like elderflower or lemon balm tea - go to a healthfood shop with a naturopth ( or go directly to a naturopath, herbalist or homeopath) things like cough syrup dont really do anything to heal the body, and make kids better, they just make the coughing less painfull or quiter untill rhe body heals itsself - where as natural remedies can held to speed up recovery time.
