How to get child to sleep in own bed?

This was something my husband & I struggled with, and still struggle with! I have 2 little girls, Mia (3) & Mariah (2), and they share a bedroom and bed. My oldest child, Mia, doesn't mind sleeping in her bed. She loves her room. I let her pick out simple things like new pillows for her bed and I'm teaching her to make her bed. She really likes this and I think she has pride in her bed and that makes her WANT to sleep in it. Now my youngest is a totally dofferent story! She sneaks out EVERY night! It is a rare thing when she stays in her bed! She's really attached to "mommy's bed". I find it hard to make her leave our room. My husband puts his foot down and I have to take her back.... I think in time she'll be more like her older sis and stop coming into my bed. Good luck to you!!!!

We had to put a baby gate in front of my son's door when we switched to the "big boy bed." There were a few nights he slept on the floor of his room, but eventuallt he slept in the bed. It might help, though if you sat outside his door where he can see you until he falls asleep for a few nights. But only if he stays in the bed. If he gets out you leave. It worked for us.

my son is almost 3 and he still wakes up in the middle of the night to come and sleep with me. Normally I don't mind, because I love the extra cuddle time, since I work full time, I don't get to see him much. But I also let him fall asleep and then put him in his own bed. Or start giving them their own bed time and just keep putting them in their bed. It takes awhile and its hard, but don't get mad or irritated, give them a warning like 10 mins before its bedtime, then the 1st time they get up, tell them it's night-night time and then every time they get up, just keep putting them back in bed and don't say anything to them, eventually they stop trying.

With my daughter when she fell asleep i would move her to her bed and eventually she seen that she was in her own bed when she woke up so she just started sleep in it.
