I read in a baby book don't try to keep your child up late choose afair bed time and stick with it. On the nights my child would stay up later she didn't sleep well, so maybe try a nap or rest time during the day and a good healthy bed time. Best of Luck!

Hi, my name is Lauren. I looked at your profile and noticed that your daughter is almost four. I don't have a four year old yet, but I do have some advice, what my friend did for her son before he started school. It's going to be hard, but what she did was start a routine at night, and even during the day. Kids thrive on routines, and it's best to start a night time routine when they are babies, because doing when they are older is a lot harder. She started by getting her son up at 7 am, feeding him lunch at around 12, followed by an afternoon nap or resting time, dinner between 5 and 6, a bath at 7, then a snack and a story and then to bed at 8. He would try to get up and come to her, but she had to just keep putting him back in his bed. Eventually he understood that it was bed time and time to sleep and he quit getting out of bed. I would advise the nap because studies show that kids that rest during the day for an hour or two actually sleep better at night. If they get TOO exhausted, they have a harder time falling to sleep and staying asleep. Also a nightly bath will help to calm and relax her and a story will have the same effect. I hope you find something that works and I wish you luck!

Try reading the book BabyWise. It helps with teaching your children to sleep through the night. If she is still in a crib, you may need to just let her cry herself to sleep. I know it's hard to hear a child crying, but after a week or so, she may learn to fall asleep on her own.

How old is your daughter? I have 2 little girls that are a struggle to get to sleep all night. Most times they end up in bed with me. I have started an award chart that if they sleep through the night and in their own bed they will get a sticker. If they get so many stickers they will get a treat. They are ages 4 and 6 so it seems to work. I know my pediatrician stated when they were young it was not bad if they did not sleep all night that they had to learn to entertian themselves in bed so that they did not wake you up.
