He is Crawling for the last 3/4 mts! the last 2mts he is climbing the stairs, walking from table to couch! but wont seem to take more the 2 or 3 steps on his own! I cant put him in a walker he will climb out ! he hates been in a playpen ! It would just so much easier if he would just walk ... less bumps ect !

his only 11 months old don't worry about it he will walk when he is good and ready too you can't actually "make them" do anything, and like one of the other mums said their will be more bumps and stuff when they do start walking but it's all a part of life and learning, try to not rush him into growing up before he is ready because they arn't little for long and you'll regret it later.

I wouldn't push him. I would encourage him and celebrate when he did walk, but if he's not ready then he's not ready. Enjoy him just crawling. At least you can keep up with him right now.

dont get yourself to stressed out about it unless he gets to 19mnths then see a ped but i know from experiance that kids do things in their own time. my first walked realy early at 8 mnths my second i was worried about but she got up to walk at 18mnths, my third was around 14mnths and my fourth well... she is only 3 1/2 months so we're yet to know but im sure that your son will suprise you one day and then you will forget about being worried good luck and keep encouraging him.

Hi, my lil girl is 15 mths and she has only just started waking by her self although she has been able to walk for about 5 mths but she didnt have confidence to walk by herself so from the mment she woke to when she went to sleep she would have hold of my hand so that she cud walk it was so tiring,

Buy him one of those pusher walkers, not the one that they sit in, the one that they have to stand up themselves to push...the earlier u get it the earlier he will try to walk by himself!! I bought one for my daughter when she was 6 months, and she tried and tried and she was walking at 10 months,

That is pretty young to be walking.... I was so thankful my daughter didn't walk til 15 months!! My son was running by 11 months & has so many scars on his forehead from not having enough balance.
The older the better I reckon! Don't force him!

He will walk when he is ready. My daughter did it. If you absolutely can't wait, then try giving him a wooden spoon in each hand. They are about the same shape and size as fingers. Then slowly take them away.

All babies hate the playpen! I have 2 and one on the way, my son is 12 mos old and he is the same way. My daughter waited till she was nearly 14mos! Babies are all different and develope in different ways and paces. You just need to help promote it, and wait, it's kinda like labor, when baby's ready, he'll do it. Don't push him and fret over it, just relax and most important, ENJOY this time! Babies grow sooo fast! just slow down, enjoy him, and let him do it in his own pace while you and other family members just promote it. Also, walkers are neat and great to put baby in as punishment/excersize, but they don't teach the correct way to walk, so just use your hands and hold his hands, lead him around to some music! Trust me, you need to enjoy him and relax, and he'll be walking before you realize.

My son was doing all the same things at 11 months, he didn't start Really walking until he was 13 months old[hes 14months now] But i was the same way. I tried to get him to walk so much and he just wouldn't do it. Finally me and my husband would sit a few feet across from eachother and i would have hayden stand in front of me and my husband would call him to walk to him, saying come here hayden come here telling him he could do it, and he would take a few steps and fall but we clapped and said yay and he loved that and we kept doing it over and over again until he was more comfortable with not holding on to anything. and now he doesn't do anything but walk. He tries to run which is soo funny, but he falls alot and trips over his feet.Hell be a pro sooon! But good luck. He will be walking in no time!!

I'm a nanny for a little girl who just learned how to walk. She is 13 months. I was the perfect height to hold her hands and walk with her so I did it a lot and I think it helped her gain a bit of confidence over time. She also has a little toy she likes to push around and that helped too. I'm not taking any credit for this. In fact, the baby deserves all the credit because she never gave up. She looks so dizzy when she walks right now. I kinda feel sorry for her. hahaha

Trust me...he'll walk when he wants to walk. My 7 year old didn't walk until she was 13 months, there's no harm done. Just wait until he's ready =)

I really wouldn't stress about it yet. My son was 14 months old before he started walking. It sounds lie your little one is well on their way! All those things you mentioned are very positive indicators that your son is strong and healthy and able to walk, he may just need more confidence in his own abilities and only time and experience will give him that. I wouldn't push too hard either or you could stress him out. Just have fun with him and keep encouraging him and giving him opportunities to practice.

just let him take his time and don't push it too much...my son waited a week before his fist b-day to start walking...Don't worry once he takes those first steps on his own he'll be running before you know it and then you'll really have to focus on safety until he learns to control his steps and stop on time before bumping into things...

He'll do it when he's ready. I know how frustrating it is, I had to follow my son around for the longest time when he first learned how to stand because he didn't know how to fall onto his bottom he would just fall straight back and bang his head. But eventually he learned how to fall on his butt so he doesn't hurt himself anymore. Now he's walking pretty well on his own but he still falls over all the time. Just give him space and try to get anything dangerous out of his way so he can learn to fall the right way without hurting himself.

Actually it will be more bumps because when they learn to walk they learn to RUN like a drunk man haha. My daughter would take a couple steps and then fall and crawl because it was faster. Then one day all on her own she decided she was going to walk and she just did. She was just under 12mth she was still wobbly on her b-day. Just let him go and see what happens. They will when there ready!
