My son is almost a year old. What is the best way to wheen off the bottle?? He occasionally will use his sippy cups, but alot of the times he just plays with them like they're toys. Any tips??

i started with one feeding a day with a sippy cup and as she got a lil more used 2 it i just put the bottles away without any trouble she was broke by 9 months. i found that she likes the soft tip sippy cups the hard one she just played with.

Well, with my son the ONLY thing he ever had in a bottle was formula. If he wanted juice or water it was in a cup. ALso, when I started transition to milk that went into a cup only. In our case once we were done with formula we were also done with bottles.

my son was the same way he just didnt like his bottle ...so i just switched to a sippy cup...my baby doctor told me to use the soft tipped sippy cups at first till he gets used to them becuz it is a better transition from a bottle to a sippy cup then after he got used to it then give him the hard tipped ones

well it was easy for me to do but i did it when my son was 6 months hopefully by 1 and a half to 2 years old he will be off the sippys too lol but he kinda did it himself he wouldnt eat from his bottle so it was cut off right then and there cold turkey the younger the better within reason of course lol but you can try putting his fave drink in the sippy and give it to him so he asso it with yummy drink with the sippy or give it to him more offten a day like give it to him once one day and then twice another day and so on or cold turkey if he gets really picky about it cold turkey is the way i would sugest

My daughter is 9 mo. and I just wanted to know the same answer for the future. So, I asked my family and what they did was replaced the formula bottles with water and put formula in the sippy cups. and like Julie Howard said just replace one at a time. Apparently their experience has been the babies want the sippy cups with formula instead.

Start by replacing one bottle a day with a sippy cup. As he gets used to it, replace another bottle with a sippy cup. Save the toughest for last; I think for a lot of kids, their bedtime bottle is the toughest to give up, but my son gave that up early, so his toughest bottle to lose was his first morning bottle. I didn't really have any trouble, though, because my son was used to drinking out of a sippy cup, and he didn't use his bottles as a comfort object to fall asleep. I just put the bottles away one day and only gave him sippy cups, and he never blinked. If your son is thirsty, he will drink from the sippy cup.
