I have never heard anything good about the mirena. I was supposed to get it after my son was born, but my insurance would not cover it. I had not done any research at that time and had no idea it was so bad. It was definitely a blessing to not have my insurance cover it. I ended up pregnant when my son was 6 months old. After having my daughter, I decided I would use the nuva ring. I have heard a few bad things about it, but mostly that it comes out during sex or that it can be felt all the time. I have not had any of these issues. I have heard of some women getting pregnant using the nuva ring, but those women also have said they got pregnant on other types of birth control as well. Talk to your doctor about the mirena. Find out the in's and out's of the law suit. Maybe consider getting it taken out and trying a different type of birth control. Just remember though that the transition period between birth controls could allow you to get pregnant if you don't use other protection.

Oh wow 6 months solid?? That's crazy! I do want more children but not for another 2 or 3 years, that was the main reason i had decided on the mirena and of course i thought the lite or not periods would be a plus! But i was wrong bc now i never know when it's going to start not to mention the random spotting is way worse then i expected its like an almost every other day thing! Which i can't complain about to much because i did know that would be apart of it before i got the mirena. My biggest problem is the depression, mood swings, back pain and a few other things. That i did not know were side effects of it until i recently started this research. The past year has gotten pretty bad but i kept telling myself that all of it was due to something else like stress etc. Since reading the things I've read it makes a little more sense. My dr didn't really push me into it but i don't think she warned me fairly enough like i believe she could have, which is very disappointing.

I have heard more bad than good with the Mirena. I had my Gyno trying to push me into getting it and I don't even want it for birth control. I'm trying for a more permanent solution and since Hubby has had a vasectomy it proves we don't want any more children.

I finally convinced him to book me in for an ablation and I'm waiting to get it done. He didn't want to do it as he obviously got some kick backs for the amount of Mirena's he put in each month.

I would also steer clear of the Implanon as I had that and bled for 6 months solidly.
