I went to my doctor for a routine pap smear for the birth control pill. My doctor called me back a week later with the results of the pap smear. He told me that there is a pre-cancerous cell present on my cervix and that I needed a referral for an ob/gyn.The doctor wants an additional exam done to find out if the cell can cause HPV. At the time of the doctor appointment I told my doctor that I was a month late so he did a pregnancy test. The test was negative but my last period was on November 16th. I asked for a blood test and my doctor told me that they only do a blood test to determine gestation. I still have not had a period. And I have also experienced sore and tender breasts and some cramping. Can these symptoms be from the possibility of HPV or is it possible that I am pregnant and the tests are wrong? Please help I am desperate.

yes I havent heard that either about the blood test. When I took my positive preg. test, they had to do a blood test to determine if I was really pregnant or not. I guess some places are different?

I am in a similar situation. I had a negative pap smear and it tured out that I have HPV and it caused the cells on my cervix to change (dysplasia). There are many types of hpv but its general divided into 2 groups one that causes warts, and the other that can cause cancer. I am glad I am not in the first group lol but not happy with the group i am in. It does cause your cells to become abnormal and eventually become cancer, if not caught, but thankfully it is highly catchable, and doing them routine paps will catch it before anything has a chance to happen. my dr said that about 96% of usa citzens will contract hpv within their lifetimes. (not sure where your from) But she also has said that there really arnt any symptoms at all. I do have lower stomach cramping sometimes and Ive never figured out what the problem is. I also am having an issue with being late, I do believe that is because of hormones out of whack from having baby.
I suggest that you try taking a pregnancy test, if it comes up normal, I suggest caling your ob/gyn. If you have recently had a child your hormones could be the problem, they can do testing to really get to what the real problem is. But with the soreness I do see how it could be possible your pregnant. The tests are 99% accurate but I have heard many times of people having false negatives.
Hope the best!!

I would see another doctor and get a blood test done. I've never heard of only doing a blood test to determine gestation.
