I named my daughter Havin (pronounced haven, like a safe haven) and her middle name is Evangeline. I have had many comments about how pretty and unique it is.

This is for Ashley Nicole...you are beautiful and have gorgeous children. I am not at all trying to be nasty, but there's a pattern in your comments...you're slamming everyone else's, in a very snarky way I might add...you're not even the one who is asking for suggestions, so if you don't like them, so what? I, too, think alot of the names that people have given on here are ridiculous, but obviously they don't, and the lady who's asking for advice might not either...yes, it's the WWW, and it's your constitutional right to voice your opinion, but it's everyone else's too...this is a site for mothers, all of whom should be tactful simply BECAUSE we're mothers, and for example, your remark about not drinking before getting on here is a very snotty way of saying you don't like the names some people are suggesting...when to them your own children's names might be laughable! (I don't think so, I think they're adorable, but you see my point?) I just hate seeing, even on a site like this, over a SUBJECT so innocent, people already sharpenin' their claws. Let's keep the peace, ladies, and celebrate this woman's soon-to-be brand new baby instead of making fun of each other's kids' names!

Thank you for this response.  It was very tactful, well said, and much needed!

Get a book of baby names and turn to the lists of what was popular at the end of the 19th/beginning of the 20th century. Victorian names can be gorgeous, but fell out of favour for awhile. Time to bring them back.

You could also always go Greek: Agatha, Cassiopeia, Ophelia, Andromeda, Diana, Magdalen, Adonia...tons of names you won't hear often around here :)

I like Aurora (like Aurora Borealis) the Northern Lights, I think it's beautiful.
Also Aurora is the name of the princess in Sleeping Beauty - and every girl wants to be a princess.

Thats funny my daughters name is that but I spelled it Auroara and we call her Rori. I am now pregnant with my second daughter and am naming her Bianca. I like names that arent common but arent so out there no one has heard them before. Since my name is Amanda, I just knew too many and vowed to give my kids different names. Oh and we are calling Bianca Bibi. But I like Eleanor, you could call her elle, or ella. Old names are good too cause you don't hear them that often and theyre classic!

My mother tried to give me a unique name, I like my name but to be honest no one has ever read my name and said it correctly, and when they hear it they think i said "denise" or "janice". Be sure to make sure the name you choose is easy for people to read and say. I know you want unique but please, its your daughter who has to use the name not you.

I like Autum sky.

We just named our daughter Audrey Eleanor. Audrey is such a classic name, yet uncommon. Eleanor is after my grandma. I also liked the name Lenora or Lenore. Good luck.

for Heavens sake before you name her remember, she will eventually have to put it on a resume someday

Ok.  You've left 6 comments on this post.  5 have been rude and mean-spirited.  Stating your own opinion is just fine- and welcome!  But being condescending is completely unnecessary.

Is there a specific letter you want it to start with? My sons name is Jonathan and when we had our daughter and started looking for names we both just gravitated to ones starting with the letter "J". We named her Jiselle pronounced (G - Cell) in spanish and (Gi - sell) in english. We know of people name Gizelle but I thought it rhymed to much with Gazelle. Her middle name is DeAliz ( Day-a-lease). We combined our moms names together for that. I also like

Jenalise ( Jena-lease)

Gia

Julissa

Yanelise

Good luck and let us know what you picked!

My oldest baby girl (9) is Kylah...it's a different yet not "out there" kind of name that will still suit her when she is an adult. We get LOTS of compliments (and mispronunciations) on her name. ("ki-la") Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and childbirth ;)

I researched names before I chose Astraea which was a greek goddess...I love greek and japanese names because they're unique BUT at times hard (or not so obvious) to pronounce.

I suggest choosing an interesting name that is also easy to say and spell. Also consider what her nickname will be from that name. Or perhaps a less common first name coupled with a more common middle name.

Gwenivere is pretty and "Gwen" would be a nickname for example.

Athena

Alexandria "Alex"

I'm expecting a lil girl in the Fall and put my 7 year old and 6 year old to wrod on names. That really helped.... My 7 yr olds mid name is INE like my mom and my 6 yr old is Rayanna...so they decided that Rayine would be their new sisters name....
