I feel like the new kid in high school... I hated high school...

You decide to take your child to a fun day at the library story time. You and your child love the teacher and you have a lot of fun at the end the kids have free time to play and the moms have a time to chat. But everyone seems so caught up in there own conversations you just don't seem to be able to be included. I could apply this story to anywhere i go that has "friend" opportunities... playgrounds, church, preschool. I am a naturally shy person and I have gotten a lot better at talking to people but for some reason I get so nervous around moms. Does anyone have any suggestion of how to get over it? And how to involve yourself in conversations that are already going on with out seeming a pest? Or when you do talk to a woman how do you go on from there? Do you get her phone number? How do you not leave it at that playground?

i would like some help in this department too!

at first im always shy,and i dont want to seem nosy or rude so i dont just hop into converstations, but b/c of that i dont ever make any new friends!

but at the same time i feel its the "regulars" in certain groups/situations that should try to include the rookies.
