I got my first period after having my son, it's been 4 months since he was born. I thought the period was a normal period until I have had in now for 8 days and it has no signs of going away. Does anyone know how long the period is supposed to last?

I think it should only be like a normal period length. Are you breastfeeding or bottle feeding? I have never had a problem with my coming back until like a week before my kids were a year old. And my 1st son he was 10 months before mine ever came back.. when i'd get mine they only went 3-5 days..

I've got a 6 month old and I've yet to have a 'regular' period, I wouldnt worry, all moms are different, especially if you're breastfeeding or using birth control. talk to your doctor and possibly have a pap test to make sure everythings good to go

I was breastfeeding up until 6 weeks ago and now my period just doesn't seem to want to go away. I did just get mirena and I have heard from another post maybe that has something to do with why its so long. I don't know but its irritating and I am ready for it to be gone.

I had my son in may of 07. I had my first period at probably 4 months old also. I dont remember how long it was exactly. But my period was messed up horrible. I would go months without it and some months I would have it twice. Before having him, my period was exactly 5 days long and very regular. I had my daughter in oct 08. My first period after her she was close to 3 months old and my period was 10 days long. over time it worked itself out. when she hit about 6 months old it was back to the way it was before I had children, just a little heavier.

angie, as you know i breastfed anne and didnt start mine for 7 or 8 months and it was a normal period. now with destiny, since ive having to bottle feed her i started  about 3 weeks after i had her and that really sucked but it seemed a little shorter. course, shorter is ...like 6 days :(

I haven't got mine yet after having my baby 10 months ago, but my sister has a 13month old and she said for her the first few months of getting her period back again was a bit erratic. Bleeding was either longer or shorter than normal and the time between them was all over the place too - sometimes 6 weeks apart, sometimes 2 weeks apart. I guess sometimes it takes your body a little while to get back into it's normal rhythm again.

I'd also like to know!!! :)

Started mine 3 days ago, after 2 YEARS of not getting it!! Needless to say, I'm pretty sad that my period-free days are over!

I honestly was wondering the same thing. Mine has just begun and I have only been on it for 2 days, but my daughter is 7 months and I am just now having mine because I was nursing for 6 months. I would like to know how long to expect to be on this.
