I haven't gotten a response yet, but I really want to know if any other moms have had their tubes tied.

I am nervous about having it done. Does it hurt and what is the recovery like? How long does it take?

I had mine done a little over a year ago. The first few days are very uncomfortable. The important thing is to walk as much as you can as soon as you can to releive the cramping. Prescription IBprofin helped alot seeing as I cant stomach anything else. The surgery itself was outpatient service... I was in and out pretty much the same as Crystal mentioned. Good luck and you will do great!

Like I said getting your tubes is not a big deal. It didn't hurt me. you will be just fine. you got McWilliams blood girl, we can take anything. PLUS you've had kids. Compaired to that getting your tubes tied is a piece of cake!!!

Yikes, my periods were already bad... Oh well, I'd rather put up with that than a third little surprise.

I got mine done in Feb of 2003, they didn't actually tie mine but they clamped them because I was so young in case I ever decided I wanted another one I could just have the clamps taken off. It was outpatient surgery, you are really swollen afterwards cause they blow you stomach up with air to do the surgery, so you'll be sore for a couple days after. The only complications I've had are that my periods are more heavy and longer than before!

Hi my name is Nina and I am new here. To answer your question I have gotten my tubes tied. It does hurt, feeling cramps and sharp pains that is almost like having your period. LOL. The healing time is really up to your body and how well you heal.

I had a baby in January and considered getting my tubes tied....my doctor recommended that I wait till I was older just in case I decided to have one more. Instead I got an IUD that lasts 5 years. No pain and only takes 30 seconds to put it in:)

I had mine done almost 3 years ago. I was nervous too, but it turned out to be really nothing. I hurt for a couple of days, but within a week, I was back to normal.

I pulled the bandaid thing off of it after a week, and the incision was just kinda scabbed over. The stitches dissolved completely by week 2 and there was no scab, just the scar. As far as an actual recovery, there really isn't one. You move around as normal. I was in the hospital for the regular 2 days. Just be careful not to knock your incision on anything, cause that will hurt! But I could even still sleep on my belly. I was very scared to get it done, but it really is no big deal and I'm so happy I did it.

I got mine done a year ago. It hurt really bad for about 2 days then after that it was just a little uncomfortable. It took about a week or so to feel normal again. I went in on surgery day at 6 am and was home by 2 pm.
