apples and peanut butter, bananas and peanut butter, carrot sticks and some type of dip he likes or plain. A variation of fruit and veggies, a cheese stick or cubed or cut up cheese.

Thanks for the suggestions!! I am going to try some if not all of them. I love the idea of a "snack plate" with a variety of stuff! We so LOVE options at our house!

I make my boy a 'snack plate' when he get home which has a small abount of about 5 different things which might be carrot sticks with hummus dip, snowpeas, cut up fruit, nuts (he loves cashews), tuna & crackers, avacado, plain live youghurt with a bit of musile, a boiled egg etc. We made a deal that after he finishes his snack plate (which is mostly fruit & veges) then he can have something more carbohydraty and less healthy like a sandwhich or a bowl of cereal. fruit smoothies are also a good one, or iceblocks make from vege juice (if you have a juicer?)

My kids love all different kind of nuts, they've got lots of good stuff in them but you must be careful, they can choke (although mine never have and they both have had them since 18mths old).

Fruit is my best suggestion, mine go mad for grapes, satsumas and pink apples (these tend to be sweeter) or even pepper or carrot raw. You could even make a smoothe with some fruit and yogurt or soup with a couple of different vegtables in and freeze in small containers.

Breadsticks, crackerbread, rice cakes or toast with peanut butter are other things they like.

Cheese and yogurt (natural yogurt then add fruit or make sure if buying childrens yogurts that there is more fruit than sugar!) can be good too, they have more fat than the other suggestions which you child may or may not need.

I hope that helps, you can never have too many suggestions for healthy snacks, it will be interesting to see what other people suggest!

celery sticks and peanut butter is a good one...it's a little messy, which will make the kid love it, but it's healthy for them. Just spread the peanut butter over the celery stick and there you go.
